Skin Lumps

Skin lumps are localized swellings that form beneath or on the skin surface, ranging from small painless nodules to larger tender masses. Common causes include sebaceous cysts, lipomas, swollen lymph nodes, bacterial abscesses, and benign fibromas. While the majority are non-cancerous, any lump that grows rapidly, changes colour, or feels fixed to underlying tissue requires prompt medical assessment. Diagnosis generally involves physical examination supplemented by ultrasound imaging or fine-needle aspiration when the cause is unclear. Treatment options range from watchful waiting and antibiotic courses to corticosteroid injections or minor surgical excision, depending on the specific diagnosis.
